This Album came out for the summer of , The extra Disc is great to have and here to rough take's , it's also great to have a few live songs from !
Looks like a nice box set, I prefer not to open it since it is numbered. Excellent remasters, wish they had released the mono version. Great deal.. Doors like youve never heard them. Great mix. One person found this helpful. Wonderful rendering on disc one in MQA. I thought the sound of this release was good, nice packaging prefer jewel box, but when an LP is included it's OK.
The bonus disc gives a good flavor of where the Doors were in with the raw tracks and the live tracks. And in the gentle "Yes, The River Knows", all we can look forward to is to " Now - the bonus tracks. It's not normal Doors material, but beautiful nonetheless. What we get on the bonus "Not To Touch The Earth" tracks are humorous studio chatter plus 2 alternate versions of the song. The finished track is one of my favorites on the album, but these 2 alternates serve to give us a glimpse into the Doors' creative process, as well as showing how any deviation can change an overall finished track greatly.
The tracks are rather stripped down, almost like demos. They are somewhat quieter than the "real" version, with Jim using different inflections on the vocals and sometimes almost whispering.
And finally, we come to "Celebration Of The Lizard". Like other reviewers, I wondered for years what this would be. It clocks in at just over 17 minutes, and we hear Jim reciting his poetry of darkness and insanity over what seems to be improvised, or at least loosely planned, music.
I doubt that I will want to listen to this long piece every time I hear the album, but still, it is interesting and for me a missing part of The Doors' repertoire, so I'm happy to have it. All in all, a masterful collection. Hey, can I help it if, like Jim, I am attracted to anarchy and despair?
The reason being because my best loved single came from this album, "Hello I Love You". Of course the rest of the disc is pretty damned good as well.
You would love it. So Get It!! I won't review the music which is in my personal opinion great but I have to say this is one of the best sounding vinyl reissues I've heard recently. The music is crisp and clear and it is dead quiet between the songs even after 30 or more playings. If you are looking to replace an old disk or to find out for yourself why a quality vinyl record beats just about every other form of recorded music this comes most highly recommended.
Waiting for the Sun is now my favorite album. Received it on Saturday, it made me sing, dance, laugh and brought back memories of the best 60s music of all time. With music like this you never feel too old to enjoy Rock and Roll that gives you a sense of better days gone by. Drew T. While I tend to lean more towards the band's bluesier material you really can't find anything wrong with this album. I'm not a Doors purist like a lot of the bigger fans they have so I'm sure plenty have reviewed this album inside and out and done a much better job than I could.
Their debut album was the first album I ever bought. I have them all and listen regularly even though I have other discs to choose from. This disc is only good for 2 things: a coaster or a frisbee. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries.
It's difficult to chose a favourite song or a favourite album by The Doors. Each album is a special journey. Waiting For The Sun is special to me because it gives me good positive memories. Each song paints a perfect picture of enlightenment and gives the listener an insight into the legendary band. Summer's Almost Gone. Wintertime Love. The Unknown Soldier. Spanish Caravan. I have replaced almost all of my Doors studio albums with the anniversary editions now and this is the one that has provided the most striking and truly moving improvement. Send to a Friend.
